This 4BHK Pune Home Is Rooted in Tradition, But It’s Not What You Expect

In this thoughtfully designed Pune residence by Ar. Tejas Shintre of Koriv Design Studio, Anagha Godbole and her husband set out to recreate the essence of a traditional Marathi wada - while embracing the comforts of contemporary life.

Located in Deccan Gymkhana, this home unfolds as a series of connected experiences. From the moment you enter, you’re greeted by a striking basalt temple dedicated to Shiva. This space is inspired by the quiet intensity of traditional stone shrines.

As you move further in, the home opens up into a fluid living space designed like a baithak, inviting conversation, comfort, and community.

At the heart of the home is a material story: micro-cement, lime plaster, teak veneer, and handwoven textiles come together to create a tactile, breathable environment. Built-in brick seating, koba flooring, and handcrafted details ensure that nothing feels overly precious - just warm, lived-in, and meant to be used.

The home is also a celebration of Indian craft. From south cotton textiles and khadi upholstery to hand-painted tiles and brass inlay inspired by Chettinad traditions.

The bedrooms each take on their own personality. Yet, what truly defines this home is its connection to nature. A seamless transition between the living room and balcony allows light, air, and greenery to become an integral part of everyday living.
